hlocklearIf anything, the over-saturation of commercials featuring Heather Locklear returning to Melrose Place is a warning to all girls. NO PLASTIC SURGERY! BOTOX=EVIL!! I’m not going to post what she looks like these days and in the commercials, but rather, to reminisce about the good ol’ days when she looked like a real person.

You’ve heard the track “Medicate” on LIVE105 for a little while, now check out the behind the scenes footage in making the video.

Medicate

Band of Skulls are playing one of our LIVE-ONE-OH-FIVE days of Christmas, and a MUST-SEE! Here’s a taste:

themcrookedvulturesThe new Them Crooked Vultures album is officially out, and it RULES!  They’ll be in town to blow out your eardrums at the Fox Theater, this Thursday.  From the few shows they’ve done, it’s definitely going to be a show worth seeing.  Sample, then definitely buy!

the-pain-of-being-pure-at-hMusic isn’t just relegated to Monday.  It’s music 24/7 in my house, and this band is definitely in high rotation.  From NYC, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart recently played the CMJ conference, and this track is full of dreamy goodness – Higher Than The Stars

Check out the new video for “Kings and Queens” by 30 Seconds to Mars. Quite the theatrics, huh?

Thirty Seconds To Mars - Kings + Queens - HD

211x281Dunno if you heard, but Jack White recently turned down Slash to help out with Slash’s solo project! Perhaps THIS is the reason why. Fergie and Cypress Hill do their best to cover for Axl Rose on a remake of “Paradise City.” The music is there, but it just isn’t the same. Your thoughts?

Hold off on your “I wonder what Hot Hot Heat is doing” Friday night discussion! Lead singer, Steve Bays took to the band’s website to apologize for the delay with new material. In any event, the new album is on its way and as a peace-offering, the band is making two tracks available for download for free!

Last Friday was insanity times when Silversun Pickups played a Verizon show at Bimbos. Yep, a banana jumped up on stage and started dancing with the band. The history is that it first started with a show with Cage The Elephant days before! After the banana bumrushed the Cage show, they somehow convinced the banana to do the same at the SSPU gig.

First- the footage from Cage The Elephant during “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked”:

Then days later during “Lazy Eye” by Silversun Pickups!

Owl City(Adam Young) sees the similarities between his music and The Postal Service. It’d be really hard not to see it, but he’s just NOW admitting it? Not sure if he or anyone can live up to the bar that was set. “Give Up” is definitely a candidate for Top 5/Top 10 albums of the decade.

The Pixies are in town for a slew of shows this week(Sun-Tues) and any time they bust out “Here Comes Your Man” is a good thing. Just like they did on the Tonight Show.

These guys should put on a great show at Slims tonight. They all used to sleep in the same room together in NYC! Doesn’t get more indie than that.

EVERYONE is down with Muse playing NSSN, and it should go down as one of the BEST nights ever. Get their latest album, “The Resistance” and bask in their glory. Here’s the vid for the track, “Undisclosed Desires.” Good stuff.

Here’s that sneak peek of the 30 Seconds to Mars vid for “Kings & Queens” I was talking about on the air:

Around here, life is grand - go somewhere else to find grumpy thoughts.
Here are some things about me as a member of civilization:

1. I bowl a modest 457 series; not too shabby at all, and apparently, impressive to pleasant-looking ladies.
2. When I walk into an art gallery, I cross my arms. I look at art better with my arms crossed.  I look for a few minutes, read the blurb, and move on with a considering expression on my face.  Yes, even the stuff at 111 Minna.
3. I like electro, retro, and house like ghetto.  Man, Green Velvet is awesome

You'll most likely see me:
a)  eating at El Farolito in the Mission for burritos and quesadillas.  Dee-lish.
b)  getting a haircut and some crazy style at Madusalon on Divisadero.  That place has great music too.
c)  walking my dog on Union St/SF or riding my bike with him to Safeway in the Marina.  Exercise for all.
d)  inhaling pizza from Zach's in Oakland or Garrett's in Campbell.  Pizza is sustenance after partying.
e)  surfing at Manresa or Pleasure.  Nothing like man against wave.

Fav bands in quadruples(in no particular order):
Cure, Green Day, Muse, NIN,
Silversun Pickups, AFI, Arcade Fire, Radiohead
Dandy Warhols, White Stripes, LCD Soundsystem, Tool

And now answers to one of those silly surveys:

Name?  Pedro.  Vote for me.

Where do you live?
box number 4586, underneath the Harrison St. off-ramp of the Bay Bridge

What's the vibe like?
noisy, spacious, yet moldy.

We're headed to the bar, what are you having?
anxiety issues due to my insecurities around pleasant-looking girls

First album that you purchased?
"C is for Cookie-Cookie's favorite songs".  track 7 "Goodbye Little Cookie" always brings a tear to my eye.  Thankfully, I didn't know about poetry writing in the closet until high school.

First concert?
Spring, 5th grade.  I played trombone.  It involved a lot of spit.

Favorite movie?
the mandatory 20 min. sexual harrassment video shown to us during orientation here at work.  informative yet entertaining.

Item you'd like obsessed Japanese fans to send to you?
pictures of themselves outside my house flashing the peace symbol.  if they're obsessed as you say they
are, they should know where i live.

Any final advice for LIVE 105 Activists?
Be greedy as possible and take advantage of the presales and goodies that you can get because you're not getting anything free from me.  Except this piece of advice.  So, I guess I lied.

Here's some stuff I've been listening to lately, and maybe you'll be listening to it yourself.  I'm always open for recommendations, so hit me up.
