Muse's fusion of progressive rock, glam, electronica, and Radiohead-influenced experimentation is crafted by guitarist/vocalist Matthew Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dominic Howard. Bored by the sleepy life provided by their hometown of Teignmouth, Devon, the three British friends began playing music together. They started the first incarnation of their band while only 13 years old, changing the name of the group from Gothic Plague to Fixed Penalty to Rocket Baby Dolls as time passed. By 1997, the bandmates settled on the name Muse and released their self-titled debut EP on Dangerous Records, followed by the Muscle Museum EP in 1998. Since then, Muse has steadily created passionate, chart-topping music while touring around the world. Their latest album, The Resistance, follows up the hit Black Holes and Revelations, and is currently rocking the airwaves on LIVE 105.

Hardcore punk revivalists AFI originally formed in 1991, when the band's four founding members were attending high school in Ukiah, CA and began cultivating a sound that would go platinum in 2003. The bandmembers split up to attend different colleges. However, AFI reconvened during a holiday break to play a one-off reunion show, and audience response was so positive that the bandmembers decided to quit school and concentrate on music full-time. After releasing a handful of successful albums, the band's seventh record, Decemberunderground, debuted at number one on the Billboard charts in 2006. While on tour, members Davey Havok and Jade Puget formed the side project Blaqk Audio. And in 2008, the group reconvened to work on their latest album, Crash Love, which came out in September 2009!

Initially known for his work as an actor (My So-Called Life, Requiem for a Dream, Fight Club), Jared Leto also had musical ambitions. His band, 30 Seconds to Mars, debuted in 2002 with a self-titled effort featuring a post-grunge sound suggestive of groups like Chevelle and Incubus. 30 Seconds returned three years later with the platinum-selling A Beautiful Lie. Constant touring and an expanding fan base sparked several nominations and awards at the MTV Video Music Awards. In 2007, the band toured around the world, including spots on major festivals (Roskilde, Pinkpop, Download) and support roles for the Used and Linkin Park. 30 Seconds to Mars recently released their third album, This Is War, in 2009.

Describing their sound as "Upper West Side Soweto," New York City's Vampire Weekend mixes preppy, well-read indie rock with joyful, Afro-pop-inspired melodies and rhythms. Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio, Rostam Batmanglij, and Chris Tomson formed the band early in 2006, when they were finishing up their studies at Columbia University. Taking their name from a movie Koenig made during his freshman year, the band started out by playing gigs at the university's literary societies and at parties. Word spread about Vampire Weekend's unique sound and lyrics ("Oxford Comma"'s title refers to comma use in a list of three items), buoyed by the band's self-released EPs, which they recorded in locations spanning their Columbia dorm rooms to a family barn. The buzz around Vampire Weekend grew in 2007: that summer, the band embarked on their biggest tour yet, with the release of The Mansard Roof EP, followed by their self-titled first album early in 2008. "Horchata" is their latest release, from the upcoming album Contra, slated for January 2010.
