Basement Jaxx is a UK house music duo - Felix Burton and Simon Ratcliffe. Their new album, Scars, is out on September 21st, featuring cameos by Lightspeed Champion, Santigold, and Yoko Ono! Basement Jaxx is one of the UK's biggest electronic bands - you don't wanna miss 'em at Spookfest for their first Bay Area show in three years! INFECTED MUSHROOM
Israeli underground electronic faves Infected Mushroom fuse together Trance and Rock for a truly unique sound. Their new album, Legend of the Black Schwarma, features Jonathan Davis and Perry Farrell and had Paul Okenfold as executive producer. If you didn't get to see Infected Mushroom at the sold-out show at the Grand Ballroom, now's your chance to rock out to a live set at Spookfest before they head back out on their international tour. CRYSTAL METHOD
Crystal Method is Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland from Las Vegas. The duo's debut album, Vegas, went platinum and is one of the biggest selling albums in electronic history. Their latest album, Divided by Night, was released this spring and features guest vocals from Emily Haines of Metric and Matisyahu. Check out the video for their track, "Keep Hope Alive:"
DIPLO
Diplo is Thomas Pentz from Philadelphia. He produced M.I.A.'s hit "Paper Planes" (not to mention dated her too!). Crazy-busy Diplo also runs Mad Decent Records (think Brazilian baile funk) and runs Heaps Decent, a social relief program benefiting children in Australia and around the world. In his own music, Diplo opened for Justice in 2008 at the SF Concourse and has worked with producer Switch to form Major Lazer. Their album Guns Don't Kill People, Lazers Do, was released in June. Needless to say, Diplo is one of today's most credible and blogged-about DJs! Check out the video for "Rhythm:"
FREELAND
Freeland makes their San Francsico live debut at Spookfest 2009! Adam Freeland is a Grammy-nominated DJ/producer and just released the band’s new album “Cope” in June. No stranger to LIVE 105, his song “We Want Your Soul” was the #1 Subsonic song of 2003! The new album features collaborations with Brody Dale (Spinnerette, Distillers), Jerry Casale (Devo) and Tommy Lee (Motley Crue). Check out the video "Under Control":
ZOMBIE NATION
Zombie Nation is a German techno and electro project of the Munich-based DJ and producer Florian Senfter. Zombielicious, release in March ’09 is his fourth studio album. Zombie Nation has produced some of the biggest underground anthems of the decade, including “Kernkraft 400,” heard at sporting events around the world. Senfter’s Zombie Nation delivers a live electronic music act to Spookfest, with an array of effects and tricks to create a unique live sound. Check out the video for "Kernkraft 400":
DYLOOT
Dyloot is Jason Sperling, a Trance DJ from Berkeley. Dyloot built a name in the SF underground scene as a DJ and rave promoter and founded one of the west coast’s biggest party promotion companies, SKILLS (which has created some of the most legendary and massive parties in the Bay Area). Dyloot’s last ETD POP 2009 brought over 12,000 people together at the Cow Palace in May, and now he returns for the debut of EVIL 105’s Spookfest! Check out the video of "Deep Voices" live in SF:
FLOSSTRADAMUS
Flosstradamus is a Chicago-based DJ duo featuring Josh Young (J2K) and Curt Cameruci (Autobot). The guys released their first single in December called “Big Bills” featuring Caroline Polacheck of Chairlift. Flosstradamus has remixed Bloc Party, Mates of State & Matt and Kim to name a few. They’ve hit the festival circuit (at Coachella, Pitchfork, SXSW) and opened for Cut Copy @ the Bay Area’s Download Festival. Check out the video:
STEVE AOKI
L.A.’s Steve Aoki is currently one of America’s top 10 biggest DJs. You’ve seen him tearing up the Subsonic tent at BFD 2008 and 2009. He’s also been touring Asia with Diplo and Europe with Faithless. Close friends with the late DJ AM, the pair toured together many times in recent years. Now Aoki is remixing tracks like “New Noise” for Refused’ 10 Year Anniversary and putting out his own single “I’m In the House” while running Dim Mak records (think MSTRKRFT, Klaxons, Scanners, Whitey and Mystery Jets). LE CASTLE VANIA
Le Castle Vania is an indie/disco/nu-rave DJ/producer from Atlanta, Georgia. Le Castle Vania packed club BLOW-UP in San Francisco earlier this month @ the Rickshaw Stop. He has remixed Soundcheck and Subsonic artists including the Virgins and Designer Drugs. And his new remix of Smashing Pumpkins’ “Zero” is rocking Subsonic Radio on LIVE 105. Check him out:
DESIGNER DRUGS
Designer Drugs is a DJ duo from Philadelphia. The pair met up in 1997 and have been producing red hot club remixes for the likes of Mariah Carey, Treasure Fingers, Fischerspooner, Annie, and N.A.S.A. They also tore up the Subsonic tent at BFD 09 and now they’re back in the Bay for Spookfest 09!
PAPPARAZZI
Paparazzi is 24 year old Cesar Rios from Los Angeles. He played LIVE 105’s BFD 09, where thousands of peeps showed up early to see him open the Subsonic tent. Papparazzi comes with major credentials – he’s been DJing for over fifteen years and used to throw weekly events with Steve Aoki. Now Papparazzi is one of the most well-known and established DJs in southern California. Check out the video:
CLASSIXX
Classixx - Michael David and Tyler Blake from Los Angeles – are some busy guys. David and Blake are currently planning a fall tour with Holy Ghost and recently released “I’ll Get You” on the French label Kitsune. They have remixed artists from Fisherspooner to Phoenix to Yacht, Major Lazer, and Ladyhawke. Check out their club smash “I’ll Get You” here:
DJ OMAR
DJ Omar, one of the co-founders and DJs of San Francisco’s legendary popscene club (where acts like KILLERS, AMY WINEHOUSE, MUSE, BLOC PARTY, CUT COPY, ARCITC MONKEYS, SNOW PATROL and VAMPIRE WEEKEND all played their first SF show!) has become a staple of the San Francisco club scene for over 15 years now. He’s been featured in a bevy of local rags, including SF Weekly, Bay Guardian, XCL8R and more. Catch him in the Deadly Disco Dungeon at Spookfest.
