The Bands

The Killers

It's a rare thing when a band can look to their second album as the point where they entered the superleagues of the rock world. You know, the place where U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coldplay now reside? Well, Las Vegas' The Killers find themselves at that exact crossroad with the release of Sam's Town. After their 2004 debut Hot Fuss turned into a 6X platinum monster, The Killers have taken an American sounding turn on Sam's Town, creating songs perfectly shaped for the arena rock stars frontman Brandon Flowers always wanted them to be. At the height of their powers, right here and right now, The Killers headline Not So Silent Night 2006.

Modest Mouse

Up until 2004, Modest Mouse was always known for their massive cult of rabid indie fans. That changed with the release of the band's stunning Good News For People Who Like Bad News. Songs "Float On" and "Ocean Breathes Salty" were ubiquitous radio hits and brought the band kicking and screaming into the mainstream. With a new album on the way, this will also be one of the first opportunities in the world to see newly acquired guitarist Johnny Marr, of the legendary Smiths fame, as the band unveil their new line-up @ NSSN 2006!

The Raconteurs

Jack White turned many heads when he announced he was taking time off from fronting The White Stripes to record and tour with fellow Detroit critic's darling Brendan Benson under the guise of The Raconteurs. The album they recorded, Broken Boy Soldiers, while much different than his White Stripes recordings, shows a more melodic and collobarative side to White. That said, live is where the band really shows its chops, as White and Benson trade both vocals and guitar licks, powered by a decidely '70s classic rock backbeat. Come see for yourself as the band rocks the Not So Silent Night 2006 stage.

The Shins

It's amazing the power that movies hold. One second you're a nice little indie band from Arizona, with a ravenous following of super hip fans, releasing albums on one of the world's most reknown and trendy imprints (Sub Pop). Then your song gets used in a popular film - in this case the infamous "check out this band, they'll change your life" scene in Garden State - and you're suddenly on the fast track to superstardom. It's not your average rock success story, but this exactly how it went down for The Shins. With the upcoming release of the band's new CD, Wincing The Night Away, The Shins are poised to go SUPERNOVA! Catch them at NSSN '06 before they're selling out enormodomes.

Silversun Pickups

These Southern California newcomers have made quite an impression here on LIVE 105 so far in 2006 as their debut record and single has become one of the most requested tracks of 2006 (yes, the song that sounds like old Smashing Pumpkins)! The new record continues to exceptionally sell, receive TONS of positive press and the band has over sold-out every local club show this year. This will be the first opportunity for many of LIVE 105 Activists to see one of their new favorite bands live.
