1. show up this Wednesday, November 4 @ Expression College in lovely Emeryville for our annual LOCAL BAND WORKSHOP seminar. the event is FREE and goes from 6:30-9pm. (this event is open to all members of the local band community OR any live 105 listener that is interested in learning more about the inner workings of the radio and music biz!)
2. our two hour symposium is designed to help enlighten and provide invaluable insight into the world of the music industry and hopefully, arm you with helpful tips and suggestions that will be beneficial to you and your band. the event will be moderated by me and it features a strong batch of panelists, too. Roland West, Island Def Jam Records (Killers, Bravery, Fall Out Boy), Leah Matanky, Great American Music Hall and Slim's (two vitally important local venues), Paige Elliott, Capitol/Virgin Records (Beastie Boys, 30 Seconds To Mars, Coldplay), Eric Freedman, Live Nation (Bay Area manager for one of the country's biggest music promoters) and Scott Llamas, popsmear records. (local label and producer of SO many bands i play on soundcheck, like Scene of Action, Goodbye Gadget, Fightin' The Villain)
3. what do you bring to get officially entered into our NSSN '09 local band contest? (which was won by Piedmont's DIZZY BALLOON last year!)
Point of Entry: Submission must include:
a) a CD-R with ONE track! (your tightest jam, your smash hit, your strongest selection and fan fave that u break out as encore!)
b) a sticker with the basic info: NAME of band, contact person, phone number, email, city of origin, etc
c) band website or myspace info
do not need a full CD, please!!

SPOOKFEST 2009: one word. epic! thanks so much to ALL that attended and helped made the debut of Subsonic's massive Halloween party a smashing success. 10,000 party kids and 17 amazing electronic acts. i'm actually planning Spookfest 2010, which i started to work on the second i got home from the cow palace on Friday morning, and i've already received some GREAT suggestions from listeners of whom to book next year. big ups!! photo's here but WAY more being loaded this week (Click here)
